Okay, I shouldn't have named this one Krishna. He's actually a bard character that I play which I based on Krishna, not the god himself, so I didn't remain totally true to his traditional image. He's half aquatic elf, hence the blue skin. I'm still planning on working with the suggestions I've gotten, but I've recently moved and haven't gotten back into my painting yet.
I know, I've been going back and forth on whether to add it. I love the feather, but I rather like him without it, too. I'll probably try adding it and see which I prefer.
This is very nice! I really like the colors you have chosen and the movement of both the figure and the drapery. Crits: I think you need to work through your values a little more. The face looks very good, and the drapery has a nice range, but the torso and then the near arm and hand do not have the same value range. Primarily the problem is the lightest lights are not consistant (your shadows are working pretty well, though I'd like to see just a smidge more complementary color in the shadows, and perhaps a little rim lighting to really give us form.) The hair in particular needs some highlights.
The cloth folds are very good, but are losing their edges... I'd tighten up the brushwork there a bit. The hard contrasts on the bracelet there show the difference in edges between that and the drapery.
One last thing...and this is just a personal thing... the face to me looks very feminine. I'd like to see a hint more of masculinity. But then again... Krishna's image is often very soft and feminine in the face, so that is not necessarily something that needs to change.
Thanks for the comments! I was hoping I'd get feedback from you. I will definitely work on your suggestions. (Except the feminine face, that was intentional. ;D)
His back torso looks too big, I'd cut a bit of the back off. And yes, more jewelery please, and make them more shiny too. The hair behind his back doesn't look finished.
His right eyebrow is a bit thicker than the left one. Anyway.. I love his face (and I believe he really looked feminine), and the hands are really realistic (stunning, really), and the clothes are too. Lovely~ Fantastic~ Great theme, I don't see this often. You made someone really happy with this piece.
Hmmm - its really good... but I figure Krishna's hair was much shorter... it was shoulder length, and curly (thats what most of his idols are made to look like) and the crown with the peacock feather is his distinguishing feature... its what makes Lord Krishna Lord Krishna... lol.. oh... and I guess the facial features are kinda feminine... but otherwise, this image is awesome... great choice of colours... krishna's skin colour has been chosen appropriately... and the colour of his robes is awesome... you may skip having the arm band if you wish... but for this man to become Krishna, I suggest having the crown on him... I LOVE the brownness of his eyes, though... fav+ for the overall effort!

This newsletter was "born" back in March 2007, from a conversation between ~Lareth and =FrozenStarRo, who with the help of their friends *Iardacil and =Sylwiaa , wanted to make something to promote known and unknown photomanipulators alike here on DeviantArt. As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same. As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
